To the north: the Valle d'Itria
To the north lie the well-known towns of the Valle d’Itria: Martina Franca is a 30-minute drive and Locorotondo 45 minutes. This round, white town looks out over Martina Franca and Cisternino, and the vineyards climb right up to its walls. The white town of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica are close by as well.
To the south: Lecce and Salento
To the south lies the baroque city of Lecce, a 50-minute drive, where the architecture will amaze you. Salento is known for its beaches and wines, and for towns such as Gallipoli and Otranto. Grottaglie, the ceramics town of Puglia, is only 10 minutes away.
Beaches
The beaches of Pulsano and Porto Cesareo on the Ionian coast are breathtaking; it is no coincidence that this coast is called the Maldives of Italy. On the Adriatic coast you will find beautiful coves in a rockier landscape. Besides beach clubs, there are also public beaches. Do as the Puglians do: check where the wind is coming from and then choose your coast.
Wine and food
The casa is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. From Primitivo to Susumaniello and the local Francavida grape: there are wineries to discover throughout the area, where you can also taste the olive oil during a tasting.

History
Francavilla Fontana is a town with a rich history. In the old centre you will see large baroque palazzi from the 17th and 18th centuries, when the Imperiali family ruled the town. The Via Appia, the ancient Roman road from Rome to Brindisi, runs past Francavilla.
